Driver goes airborne on Georgia highway after driving up back of tow truck

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia driver is recovering after video shows them driving up the ramp of a tow truck at full speed and going airborne on a highway.

A Lowndes County Sheriff's Office body camera captured video of the May 24 incident.

The video shows deputies on the side of the road working a different traffic incident.

A car approaches from the right of the video going at full speed then goes up the back of the tow truck and flips through the air for about 120 feet.

The car then hit another car as it landed.

The deputy who recorded the video immediately sprung into action and rushed to help the driver, who was seriously hurt.

Another deputy was hit by flying debris from the crash, and taken to the hospital, but she wasn't seriously hurt.

Officials confirm a 21-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida was behind the wheel of that car. She survived with serious injuries and is still recovering in the hospital in stable condition.

"The crash is still under investigation," Lt. Crystal Zion said. "But all we're worried about is that she heals and that she gets better."
Officials are reminding people to remain attentive when traveling at high speeds.
