The Clanton Ranch

We hiked from the trailhead on Escapule Rd, off Charleston Rd to the Clanton Ranch, then down to the San Pedro House, which was part of the Boquillas Ranch and back; a round trip of about 10 miles.

We were going to take the tour, set up by Friends of the San Pedro River, but decided to just do it on our own and hike south.

If you are interested in knowing the history etc, I would encourage you to look up "Friends Of the San Pedro River" on facebook or go to their website and see when they have docents doing tours of old west sites.

As for Ike:

We all know Ike Clanton from the gun fight at (near) the OK corral, or the movie "Tombstone". It was the Ike Clanton from that movie that set me off on my search to find Contention City.

Ike was much more of a character for me to describe here, so follow the links below and get all the details about him.
