Hey everyone and welcome back to another restoration! In todays video I'm restoring a 1940's accessory turn signal (directional) lever. These were originally designed to add turn signals to vehicles that did not come from the factory with them. You would attach this assembly to your steering column and add turn signal lights to the front and rear of your car.

I purchased 2 of these over the summer and decided I would restore both. A black one was completed for my 1931 Ford Model A Coupe and this one seen in the video was done and sent to fellow Youtuber Paul Shinn (https://www.youtube.com/user/paulshinn). Check out his channel to see this in action!

I started the restoration by completely dismantling the outer assembly. I then detached the wires and re-soldered a new wiring harness I made using new wires and heat shrink loom. I think cleaned all contact points and re-assembled the control board. Next I powder coated the outer housing. The original finish was a sort of silver wrinkle/hammered finish I wanted to replicate. I decided on a hammered platinum finish to re-create the look. I also decided to re-create the data tag rather than restore the old worn out one I had. I used a Cloudray 30w Fiber laser to etch and cut some metal stock replicating the original tag. Finally I finished up the assembly and shipped it off to Paul!
