The Left Does Not Represent Us (ft. Rabbi Yaakov Menken)

An Orthodox Jewish Rabbi is calling out the American Left — and standing with evangelicals.

The goal? Restore America to the biblical values it was founded upon.

“Elaine, I'm going to say something that you can't, okay?” said Rabbi Yaacov Menken, the managing director of the Coalition for Jewish Values, the largest rabbinic public policy organization in America. “I think that Jewish leftist denominations have done more damage to American values than almost any other American religious denomination.”

Why?

“Because of the importance the founding fathers handed to the Jewish view,” he said.

In other words, when evangelicals cite Scripture to defend traditional marriage, fundamental truths about the human person, and morality, they’re relying on values that have as their source Yahweh’s relationship to and guidance of the Jewish people.

This common defense of Judeo-Christian values does not sit well with the Left. In fact, Rabbi Menken and his organization were derided by Jewish liberals for siding with Miracle Hill Ministries, a foster care ministry that turned away prospective foster parents because they were a same sex couple — and because they were not evangelical Christian.

“The Jewish Left immediately said about us in a hit piece that we are articulating positions more often associated with evangelical Christians,” Rabbi Menken said. “To which our unwritten response was: ‘Well, yeah! Where do you think the evangelicals got them from?”

Whether Christian or Jewish, Elaine and Rabbi Menken urge all Americans to stand together against the immorality taking deep root, not only in America, but in our religious congregations:

“It's time for all of us, Jewish and evangelicals, to understand that we are here to do God's work,” Elaine said. “And to do that means to get involved: just like you are, just like I am.”
