INFORMATION:

The commune is located in the western part of the county, northwest of Bucharest, on the left bank of the Colentina river, which forms the Chitila and Mogoșoaia lakes next to the commune. It is crossed by the DN1A national road, which connects Bucharest to Ploiești via Buftea, the road that at the southeast border of the commune, with the municipality of Bucharest, intersects with the ring road of this city. The Bucharest-Urziceni railway also passes through the commune, which is served by the Mogoșoaia station. Also, on the western border of the commune, the Bucharest-Ploiești railway passes, on the territory of the commune there is the Buciumeni stop, a station that is no longer used since the renovation of the line in the first decade of the 21st century .

At the end of the 19th century, the village of Mogoșoaia, with 647 inhabitants, was part of the Bucoveni commune (Snagov square, Ilfov county), which also included Chitila, Buftea, Odăile and other localities. The village had a mixed school with 23 students (of which 7 were girls) and an Orthodox church (the church of St. George next to the palace).[7][8] In 1925, the Bucoveni commune was the seat of the Buftea-Bucoveni settlement.[9]

In 1950, the village of Mogoșoaia was included in the Grivița Roșie district of the republican city of Bucharest, and in 1968 it was organized as an independent commune, with the status of a suburban commune of the municipality of Bucharest. In 1981, the commune came under the Ilfov Agricultural Sector, subordinate to the Bucharest municipality, a sector which in 1998 became the Ilfov county.

In the Mogoșoaia commune is the whole of the Brancoven palace Mogoșoaia, a historical monument of national interest, including the palace itself, the "Saint Gheorghe" church, the gate tower, the kitchen, the villa d'Elchingen, the greenhouses, the enclosure wall, the park and the glacier. Another monument of national interest is the archaeological site at "Chitila Fermă", which includes two Neolithic tellies belonging to the Gumelnița and Boian cultures, as well as settlements from the Bronze Age (Tei culture, phases II–III), the Halstatt period, the Geto-Dacian period , the 2nd–3rd centuries en, the 5th–6th centuries, the 9th–11th centuries and the 17th–19th centuries (the last including a necropolis).

Besides these, five other objectives in the commune are included in the list of historical monuments in Ilfov county as monuments of local interest. One is the monument to the heroes of the First World War, located in front of the beach, and classified as a public monument. The other four are archaeological sites. A Geto-Dacian settlement was discovered on the southern shore of the Mogoșoaia lake, at the "Livadă" point, and on the northern shore, south of the Moțoc forest, a Bronze Age settlement was discovered. At the "Farm Administration" point, there are traces of another Geto-Dacian settlement, as well as one from the 9th-10th centuries. At "Luncă", on the eastern shore of Lake Chitila, traces of a medieval settlement were found.
