A male mummy, estimated to be between 3000 and 3500 years old, was discovered during archaeological excavations in the town of Rimac, near the Peruvian capital Lima. The mummy was found wrapped in a cotton shroud with various objects such as necklaces, corn, coca leaves and seeds, preserved in a tomb surrounded by stones. Officials from the Ministry of Culture have authorised the local municipality to intensify and expand work at the excavation site.
