Military Customs are not political, party affiliated, or civilian related.

When your Chevy Silverado has engine problems, you don't read a Ford F150 Manual.

Don't listen to a Veteran simply because they're a Veteran. Listen to those of us, Veteran or not, who read and know Military Customs.

The Official Presidential Salute Battery conducts ALL Presidential Inaugurations and Funeral Honors. They practice every week to ensure perfection. They're actually not artillerymen, they're mortarmen.

The keyword: Presidential. This is not about every soldier who donned the uniform and the rifles at those funeral services.

This is about who the Official Presidential Salute Battery are and what they conduct, only.

4 Things you need to know:

1. Location of Cannons
2. Number of Cannons
3. Intervals between rounds fired
4. Number of Guns

The Number of Guns is where EVERYONE gets lost in the Presidential Salute Battery because Cannons fire the shots.

Number of Guns = Rounds/Shots fired.

4 Cannons, 21 Guns (Rounds Fired) = 21 Gun Salute

21 Gun Salutes are held on Military Installations for Inaugurations and Funeral Honors.

When a President passes. Army installations = Bases, fire a 21 Gun Salute starting at Noon.

That does NOT come from the Official Presidential Salute Battery. Totally separate. That's where people get the Bases versus the Inauguration and Funeral Honors confused.

How many President's have passed on January 20? Ask it like that if you have problems.

The Official Presidential Salute Battery fire for Inaugurations and Funerals only.

The Location of the Cannons are very important. When you visit Arlington National Cemetery dot Mil... it's very specific...

"The 21-gun salute is not to be confused with the three-volley salute (or three-rifle volley) rendered at military honors funerals, which you might see or hear at Arlington National Cemetery."

Arlington Cemetery dot MIL:

Military Honors for Former Presidents. Here's another official dot Mil site:
https://usstatefuneral.mdw.army.mil/sf/honors

"21-Gun Salute - A cannon salute of 21 rounds fired with five-second intervals between rounds."

"Firing three volleys over a grave – A volley traditionally fired by a seven-member firing party. This practice originates in the custom of halting battles to remove the dead from the battlefield. Once the deceased troops were removed, three rifle volleys were fired as a signal that the battle could resume. The fact that the firing party consists of seven service members firing three volleys does not constitute a 21-gun salute."

Now let's look at January 20, 2021.

On January 20, 2021, at Joint Base Andrews aka Military Installation, Donald John Trump received 4 Cannon, 21 Guns = 21 Gun Salute by the Official Presidential Salute Battery = Presidential Inauguration.

On January 20, 2021, the ONLY Cannons that were fired for Joe Biden, were 3 Cannons at Arlington National Cemetery = Military Funeral Honors.

There were 3 Cannons, with 9 second intervals, and 20 guns. The first round misfired and there was not a replacement round because that was NOT the Official Presidential Salute Battery. Not to mention, they never marched or performed like the OPSB Customs, as they were shown on "TV" standing around waiting for their CUE aka Movie.

Remember the definition above of a 21 Gun Salute = 5 second intervals which comes from 4 Cannons.

Now let's take a gander at something that just happened this past December.

Army dot Mil, Presidential Salute Battery Honors Dignitary:
https://www.army.mil/article/263005/presidential_salute_battery_honors_dignitaries_and_events

On December 19, 2022, the Soldiers of the Presidential Salute Battery stood before their cannons, awaiting the arrival of Ecuador’s president, Guillermo Lasso. The Soldiers had set up three polished and gleaming 105mm howitzers at Section 37 of Arlington National Cemetery, and their two-man teams were ready to fire.

3 Cannons. "....Nine seconds later, an NCO standing near the captain pointed at the second gun and called out “Top!” and the second gun fired. Then he pointed again at the first cannon, waited nine seconds and the first cannon fired again. The process continued with each cannon firing, and empty shells clinking onto the street, until they fired a combined 21 shots."

3 Cannons, 9 second intervals, 21 guns, at Arlington National Cemetery under the Military Occupancy (December 2022) as the United States is under a Continuity of Government, therefore this Optic is very clear... not a 21 Gun Salute = Funeral Honors.

On January 20, 2021, those 3 Cannons at Arlington National Cemetery, fired 21 Guns with the misfire and no replacement which is actually 20 rounds (not even on guns chart), with 9 second intervals which is a Funeral for Foreign head of state or head of government and reigning monarchs.

The ONLY cannons for Joe Biden on January 20, 2021, was at Arlington National Cemetery with 3 Cannons = 3 Volley Salute... the ONLY unit that fires Cannons there = Official Presidential Salute Battery...

Let it sink in.
