“The current administration is going to be in power for another year and a half, but the danger of reckless escalation and nuclear brinkmanship is real and present.

I therefore call on our present leadership to adopt President Kennedy's maxims and to start de-escalating right now. “

These welcome words from Democratic presidential candidate, Robert F Kennedy Jr’s June 20 speech in New Hampshire, when combined with recent statements by former Republican President Donald Trump, mean that there is now a distinct possibility of mobilizing a majority of the American people against the present “no-win forever war” policy in Ukraine. But what would have to happen, such that the American population could rise above the infernal trap of party politics to save their nation?

Lyndon, LaRouche, in a 2002 article titled 'FREEDOM VS.’DEMOCRACY’

How ‘Democracy’ Became Diseased” proposed that the fundamental problem that must be confronted is to totally change the current idea and use of the term “democracy now in common parlance in today’s United States.

"The notion of ‘democracy,’ as the term had come to be defined in practice during the preceding two decades and more, does not permit effective responses to the most crucial among the kinds of life-or-death challenges which reality is now shoving onto the government’s agenda.

For this reason, a critical reexamination of the institutions of political-party-led government, is now mandatory. The challenge immediately before our government and the constituencies, is to define the practical meaning of the name of “democracy” in ways which are consistent with the continuation of that peculiar Constitutional form of government upon which our nation’s past constructive role of leadership in world affairs has depended…. During the recent quarter-century, the official meaning of the word ‘democracy’ in the U.S.A. had been shifted radically away from what it had signified during the Presidency of Franklin Roosevelt.”

Tonight, Dennis Speed will discuss in what way the eight LaRouche presidential campaigns sought to correct this fundamental error in American political practice. We will also discuss where the nation can go from here, in the aftermath of the RFK June 20, New Hampshire, challenge to the Biden administration, as well as to the forces of the Anglosphere now plunging the United States into self-destruction."
