Elon Musk didn't single-handedly figure out how to make Tesla cars work. Tesla was actually founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. Elon Musk joined the company as an investor and chairman of the board in the early stages. However, he recognized the potential of electric vehicles and took a more active role, eventually becoming CEO of Tesla in 2008.

Under Musk's leadership, Tesla focused on advancing electric vehicle technology, improving battery efficiency, and developing high-performance electric cars. The company invested heavily in research and development to overcome the challenges associated with electric vehicle adoption, such as limited range and charging infrastructure.
