Psychological Warfare, the Dutch after establishing The Dutch East Indian Company later found new ways to subjugate lands and people they invaded. Part of that conquest was an specifically insidious tactic of conditioning the native of South Africa that they were NOT native. They were given the names "Coloreds" and "Blacks", while the dutch who were indigenous to the Netherlands called themselves Afrikaners (therefore, African by name).
