A new Berlin teaser trailer was debuted at Netflix‘s live Tudum event today, teasing the Money Heist spin-off series.

What is Berlin about?
“His plan: to steal €44 million — in one afternoon,” reads the series’ logline. “From the world of Money Heist/La casa de papel, comes Berlin.”
Joining Pedro Alonso in the prequel are Tristán Ulloa (Fariña) as Berlin’s confidant Damián, Michelle Jenner as electronics specialist Keila, Begoña Vargas (Welcome to Eden) as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández (Through My Window) as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
Berlin is an eight-episode heist drama that hails from Money Heist creators Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina. The series is written by Lobato, Pina, David Olivia, and David Berrocal, who is also set to become a director along with Geoffrey Cowper. Production is currently underway in Paris.

Pedro Alonso’s Berlin was introduced during the first installment of Money Heist. The character originally died during the first season’s finale. However, thanks to fan reception, Alonso was able to reprise the role in the final seasons, where he appeared in flashback scenes.

Money Heist was created by Álex Pina. The main series starred Álvaro Morte, Úrsula Corberó, Itziar Ituño, Pedro Alonso, Alba Flores, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Darko Perić, and Paco Tous.
Following an announcement trailer back in February, Netflix has released a proper teaser trailer for the spin-off of their massive Spanish heist crime drama series “Money Heist” (La Casa de Papel).

The new series focuses on fan favorite character Andres de Fonollosa/Berlin (Pedro Alonso), the terminally ill grand larcenist, jewel thief and cracksman who is also the older brother of the heist’s mastermind, The Professor (Alvaro Morte).

The story will unfold in the years before the biggest heist Spain had ever seen, likely expanding upon the flashbacks seen in the later seasons of “Money Heist” when Berlin had more empathy.
Creator Alex Pina had previously described it as ‘a trip through the golden age of the character when he robbed around Europe crazy in love’. Specifically, the series will deal with a heist involving $44 million worth of jewels.

Berlin had five ex-wives, so it’s not clear which romance it might focus on. As such, you can still expect plenty of white-collar crime, tension, and a lot of comedy.

The series also stars Michelle Jenner as cybersecurity mastermind Keila, Begona Vargas as loose cannon Cameron, Julio Peña as locksmith Roi, Marcel Gonzalez as Jean, Tristan Ulloa as academic Damian, Joel Sanchez as weaponry expert Bruce, and Yuri D. Brown as Bertrand.

Of the spin-off, Alonso says: “I’m so happy about it. I am deeply grateful to be able to connect with people all over the world and receive so much love, and such a memorable time. We started this series walking into the unknown, and we have been winning ever since. You fans are our accomplices, and thank you for that.”
