The Hindenburg Disaster

The largest dirigible ever built by German Nazis. The reasons turned out to be atmospheric conditions that rainy evening and hydrogen leakage from the balloon.

A leaking gas cell allowed hydrogen from the airship to mix with oxygen from the outside air, and a spark, possibly from static electricity, ignited the gas leading to the fire.
