"IT'S FORBIDDEN TO FORBID"
Or in French they say "Il est interdit d'interdire!"

This is the main slogan of the student revolution in France. if you don't know what this is about, in May 1968, there were protest of left-wing students in Paris for liberation of desire, which ignited a political crisis in France.

All public transport and communications stopped working. Factory, television and radio workers went on strike. Already on May 20, the number of strikers reached 10 million. France was completely paralyzed.

After that went Charles de Gaulle, president of France from 1959 to 1969. He really remains an icon there, because thanks to his skills France was liberated from the Nazis in 1944. The president was much loved, but his views differed from the views of nation.

"I stop exercising my functions of president of the Republic. This decision will take effect at noon today."

So, without any farewell ceremonies or speeches, General de Gaulle ended his political career.
