How to make hand forged Damascus Steel for knives. Damascus steel is made by folding high carbon steel. Each fold adds a layer. Once the steel is cut into the shape of a knife and ground to an edge multiple layers are exposed. An acid bath etches the different metals at different rates leaving a very unique pattern. In this project we went for the samurai sword appearance.
