FCSO assists Florida High Patrol with apprehending a fleeing driver in the woodline

On June 18, at approximately 3:33 am, deputies responded to US-1 and South Old Dixie Highway to assist the Florida Highway Patrol apprehend a fleeing driver who crashed and then fled into the woods. Upon arrival, deputies located a crashed vehicle near the roundabout and an FHP Trooper searching the woodline for the driver.

Deputies established a perimeter and assisted with searching for the driver. Deputy Zalak later located the driver and took him into custody with Deputy Rexford’s assistance. The driver, Jorge Rafael Santiago Cotto was turned over to the FHP Trooper and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

Cotto was charged with Reckless Driving, Aggravated Fleeing with Injury or Damage, Driving with License Suspended – Habitual, Resisting an Officer with Violence, and Failure to Obey Police/Fire. He is being held with no bond.
