Twitter blew up over the weekend after Joe Rogan blasted a COVID vaccine advocate, accusing him of spreading health misinformation and calling him a “neofascist.” Peter Hotez is a self-described “internationally-recognized physician-scientist in neglected tropical disease and vaccine development.” He expanded his public profile during the COVID-19 pandemic by going on cable news rigorously advocating the COVID vaccine for all ages. The two butted heads after Hotez called out Rogan for hosting RFK Jr. on his podcast, where the presidential candidate questioned the vaccine. Rogan offered to host a debate between Hotez and RFK Jr., even offering up $100,000 to the charity of Hotez’s choice. In fact, the number is now up to $2.6 million donated to the charity of Hotez’s choice. Unfortunately, Hotez quickly backpedaled and claimed the debate would be pointless and only serve to platform “anti-vaxxers.” Why are they so afraid to discuss such an important topic?
