In an unfortunate incident at Central Park, a pit bull was tragically stabbed to death by an assailant wielding a switchblade during a dispute with the dog’s owner, according to the police.

The attacker, who had three unleashed dogs in his care, crossed paths with Eli, a German Shepherd pit bull mix, the New York Daily News reported.

Eli was being walked by his owner, a 43-year-old woman, accompanied by a 51-year-old man. The couple was also walking a chihuahua at the time, near E. 106th St. and East Drive, around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by the police.
