1 killed and almost 2 dozen injured in overnight storms in Mississippi

Severe weather struck Jasper County, Mississippi on Sunday night, resulting in the unfortunate death of one individual and causing injuries to nearly twenty others, according to officials from the emergency management department.

The impact of this weather event left behind significant structural damage in Bay Springs and Louin, with preliminary reports from the National Weather Service suggesting the presence of a tornado.

Currently, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is evaluating the extent of the damage caused by the storms, revealing that over 49,000 customers in the central part of the state are without power, CNN reported.
