Wild Mountain Thyme

Wild Mountain Thyme was written by Francis McPeake, a native of Belfast Northern Ireland. It was first recorded by him in 1957 and has since been recorded by numerous artists. There is a great controversy over one word in the song. Pluck or Pull. I chose pull wild mountain thyme because it feels funny to me to sing it as, pluck wild mountain thyme.

Wild Mountain Thyme - lyrics
Performed and arranged by Dan D. Dirges
Guitar and vocal

O the summertime is coming.
And the trees are sweetly blooming
And the wild mountain thyme
Blooms around the purple heather

I will build my love a tower
By yon clear an crystal fountain
And on it I`ll shower
All the flowers of the mountain

Will you go lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will you go, lassie go?

If my true love will not go
I will surely find another
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the purple heather

I will build my love a shelter.
On a high mountain green.
and my love shall be the fairest.
That the summer sun has seen.

Will you go lassie, go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will you go, lassie go?
