Blue Beetle First DCU Hero

Blue Beetle will be the first DCU Hero, but Superman: Legacy will be the first DCU movie. So, I don't have to watch Blue Beetle in preparation for the Gunnverse? James Gunn says Blue Beetle is the first hero in the new DCU, but he really elaborate and says it nonchalant. I don't even know if he's talking about Ted Kord, because Booster Gold tv show is in the line up, or if he means Jaime Reyes played by Xolo Maridueña.
