Rayman is a series of platform video games created by Michel Ancel and owned by Ubisoft.

The original Rayman (1995) is a platform game similar to others from the 32-bit era. Rayman 2: The Great Escape (1999) moved the series into 3D, adding more variety to actions such as being pulled by a snake into a swamp, riding a rocket or temporarily swimming in water. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (2003) retained the foundation of Rayman 2, but placed greater emphasis on combat. Portable games are mostly 2D; Rayman DS and Rayman 3D are the only exceptions, as both are ports of Rayman 2.

Rayman Raving Rabbids, originally planned to be a classic platformer, ended up being a collection of mini-games after the production team experimented with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Early gameplay videos show a darker atmosphere away from the typical Rayman game, and show the protagonist Rayman riding animals like a giant spider. Rayman could change his appearance and dance style to join the Rabbids. The idea was eventually abandoned, and replaced by movement-based mini-games, similar to WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Despite having been designed for the Wii console's motion controller, Rayman Raving Rabbids was also released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS and PC replacing physical actions with the buttons and movements of the various controllers. Rayman M shows the Rayman characters running through platform-like levels and fighting in an arena mode. Rayman Junior, an educational game, focuses less on gameplay and more on learning.

The main games in the series have very different stories and settings, often depicted by different realms within the world of Rayman. However, in addition to the title character, various characters (Globox, Murfy, Ly) and themes (freeing magical beings from cages, collecting magical energy, etc.) appear regularly. As of November 2015, the series has sold over 28 million units worldwide.
