Body cam shows Volusia deputy saves truck driver's life with CPR

A deputy from the Volusia Sheriff's Office's (VSO) heroic efforts saved the life of a truck driver traveling on I-95 on Wednesday.

According to deputies, a little after 6 p.m. Sgt. Brian Walsh was driving southbound on I-95 near Oak Hill when he witnessed a dump truck running off the road and hitting a guardrail.

Sgt. Walsh approached the truck and found the driver slumped over at the wheel, VSO says.

In Sgt. Walsh's body cam, you can hear him asking the driver if he was okay.

Video shows as he began CPR, the driver can be heard struggling for air.

"Come back to me. Come on man, you're okay, you're okay. You're going to make it, bud," Sgt. Walsh can be heard saying.

Sgt. Walsh performed CPR until the paramedics arrived and took over rescue efforts.

VSO says the driver was eventually able to breathe on his own and was taken to a nearby hospital.
