“How Do You Know What You Know?” 
11th In our series the Epistle of 2nd Peter

I. Cunningly Devised Fables - 2 Peter 1:16
* A. The greatest cunning deceiver of all time, Satan - John 8:44
* 1. Transforming himself into an angel of light - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
* 2. We must be aware of his deceptions - 2 Corinthians 2:11
* B. The end of the age will usher in a time of grand deception - 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12  
* C. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life - John 14:6

II. Peter offers in contrast an Eyewitness Account - 2 Peter 1:16
* A. Peter was not the only eyewitness - 1 John 1:1-3
* 1. Can you trust the source? Are they honest and upright?
* 2. Do they have a good grasp on reality?
* B. The Bible is a record of eyewitness accounts of the events recorded in its pages
* 1. The were over 500 eyewitnesses to the resurrection of Jesus Christ - 1 Corinthians 15:3-8
* 2. Jesus Himself gave testimony of what He heard and saw from His Father in heaven - John 3:11-13
* C. Peter’s Testimony focuses on two major themes 
* 1.The Power of the Lord Jesus Christ
* a. Every single miracle preformed by Jesus
* b. Every single fulfillment of more than 300 prophecies also revealed the power of God 
* 2. The Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ - His Incarnation
* a. Conceived of a virgin and therefore the only human being free from original sin
* b. His nature was as fully God and fully man
* 3. The wise will evaluate every single truth claim by the fixed, perfect and inerrant standard of God’s Word
