This new camping lamp from BICKON is simple but versatile with a good long running time coupled with an unusual design.

In the box you get the lamp, a USB-C charging cable and a rather unnecessary user guide. The build quality of the plastic bodied lamp is lightweight but it's IPX4 water resistant and seems well made and built to last.

The lamp is freestanding with a hanging hook option. The best thing about it, and its main claim to fame, is the unusual design with four fold-out side lights which can be selected separately from the main underside light upon which the lamp sits when freestanding. When freestanding it makes sense to switch off the lower lamp panel to conserve power.

The lamp is rechargeable with a 4-hour charge of the 4000 mAh Lithium IonA battery accessed through the gromett protected USB-C port on the side giving up to 25 hours of light depending on the lighting mode used. Expect around 8 hours of use with all the light panels switched on. There is a small and hard to locate button incorporated into the access panel by the charging port, long press it to engage the 15-100% stepless dimming and short press to scroll through the lighting modes: bottom light, side lights, bottom plus side lights, rapid flash and slow flash (SOS). If no buttons are pressed within five seconds the lamp will be switched off with the next button press.

The light is IPX4 waterproof and can be used outside and should be fine in normal levels of rain but in the event of a downpour bring it inside to be on the safe side. Using the hanging hook it should be good for in tent use with the option to use just the single lower panel dimmed down to just 15% as a nightlight.

Priced at just £13.99 before discounts, and yes there are always discounts, this would be a pretty good buy as a camping, travel or emergency light.
