This best selling book tells the fascinating story of how the Japanese art of self-defense journeyed from its homeland to the United States. In addition to outlining the story, characters, and events that laid the foundation of the expansion of the art in America, the second half of the book consists of five extensive interviews with pioneers (or senior students of those pioneers) of jujutsu and judo in the USA.
