Biden pick Choudhury confirmed as first Muslim woman federal judge

The U.S. Senate voted Thursday to confirm Nusrat Jahan Choudhury as the first Muslim woman and first Bangladeshi American to serve on the federal bench. President Biden nominated Choudhury, the former legal director for the Illinois chapter of the ACLU, in January 2022. Choudhury will join the Eastern District of New York Court in Brooklyn.
