Metallica is an American heavy metal band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. The original lineup included guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, guitarist Dave Mustaine, bassist Ron McGovney and drummer Lars Ulrich. Over the years, the band has undergone some lineup changes, with bassist Cliff Burton joining, later replaced by Jason Newsted, and finally Robert Trujillo, who is still a part of the group.

Metallica are known for their intense and powerful music, which blends elements of thrash metal, speed metal and traditional heavy metal.
