Date – Friday, June 16th - 2023 – The Feast of the Sacred Heart

This is a story that spans centuries, a story of divine intimacy and friendship, beckoning us to rediscover our connection with the heart of our Savior.

In the beginning, when God created Adam and Eve, humanity reveled in the harmony of divine companionship. But with the fall of mankind, that connection was severed, and the world became a place of toil and suffering. Yet, in His boundless mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us, to heal the wounds caused by sin.

It was in the 17th century that Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, revealing His Sacred Heart and calling the world to return to Him, to seek solace and restoration through devotion to His Heart. This was more than a personal piety; it was a worldview, a call to action, and a profound invitation to experience divine love.

God desired that devotion to the Sacred Heart begin with the influential King Louis XIV and the French court, radiating from there to the rest of Christendom and beyond. The Sacred Heart was meant to reign not only in individual hearts and families but also in the very heart of nations, including their rulers. It symbolized both the tender shepherd and the valiant warrior, encompassing the breadth of Christ's mission.

Throughout history, there have been remarkable individuals and nations who embraced the devotion to the Sacred Heart. From the brave Chouans in the Vendée and Brittany to the unwavering Carlists in the Spanish Civil War, those who bore the emblem of the Sacred Heart on their arms demonstrated their allegiance to Christ in the face of adversity. Even in modern times we see this with Gabriel Garcia Moreno, the President of Ecuador, who consecrated his nation to the Sacred Heart, even in the face of martyrdom.

The message of the Sacred Heart is a call to conversion, not only for individuals but also for nations. It invites us to restore Christendom, to allow the Sacred Heart to reign in the hearts of rulers and permeate society at every level. It is a path of mercy, love, and renewal that extends far beyond personal piety, offering hope and restoration to a world in need.

Let us embrace the invitation of the Sacred Heart. Let us rekindle the flame of divine intimacy and friendship, allowing it to guide us on our path. May the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus be our compass in this tumultuous world, leading us to a place of divine connection and everlasting love.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
