It's been a bumpy ride for the Minx team, but as the new trailer for season two indicates, the team is "back and better than ever." The trailer, which you can watch below, teases better times for editor Joyce Prigger (Ophelia Lovibond) and publisher Doug Renetti (Jake Johnson) who found themselves at odds during the series' first season. The magazine crew is now enjoying success, as apparent by the wads of cash, fancy dresses, and champagne-sipping as seen below.
Minx premiered on HBO Max in March 2022 and quickly gained critical praise. Just one month after its debut, the series earned a renewal for a sophomore season. But in December, when filming for season two was near completion, news dropped that the series had been canceled as a result of the WarnerMedia and Discovery merger. At the time, Lionsgate began shopping the well-received series, and in January, the cast, crew, and fans of the series received some excellent news: Minx had been picked up by Starz. Loosely based on the creation of Playgirl (which launched in 1973), Minx follows the story of an unlikely duo who team up to create the first adult magazine for women. Joyce (Lovibond) is a young feminist looking to bring like-minded women a magazine just for them. As she ventures to the 1971 Southern California Magazine Pitch Festival to pitch her magazine idea, The Matriarchy Awakens, she meets Doug (Johnson).
Doug is a low-rent adult magazine publisher who wants to work with Joyce but has an idea to elevate her magazine idea. During the early 1970s, erotic publications were on the rise, but none existed for women. Doug wants to fill that space. While it seems like it may not happen, given Joyce's initial hesitancy, the two eventually join forces and Minx is born. The magazine combines both of their ideas, featuring feminist pieces and naked men.

The magazine gains buzz, and Joyce, Doug, and the rest of their team seem to be finding success, but as they hit a couple of road bumps, Joyce begins to question whether Minx is the right fit for her. As the trailer shows, it seemingly is, as she and Doug are now co-owners with a 51/49 partnership.
