I have been using the Daiwa SSaltist Spinning Reel for quite some time now and I must say it has truly exceeded my expectations. I have always been a Daiwa fan and this reel has definitely confirmed my love for the brand.
The power and smooth drag of this reel is simply amazing. I can tell that this reel is built to last, which is very important for me. What I love most about this reel is that it can hold up to 950m of 50lb JDB casting braid.
This allows me to fish in deeper waters without having to worry about running out of line. The reel arrived on time and in great condition, which is always a plus.
I was blown away by how smooth the reel was and as I continued to use it, it only got better. Casting with this reel is a breeze. It is extremely accurate and I have caught some really big fish using it.
The drag on this reel is also super smooth. I have never experienced any jerking or tugging, which goes to show how well-made this reel is. My first Daiwa reel was the BG 2500 and I must say that I fell in love with it because of the price.
However, with the Saltist, I wanted to splurge a little and get a high-end reel that is built to last. I was torn between the Saltist, the Stratics, and the Daiwa Ballistic.
However, I decided to go with the Saltist because of its metal construction. Being old school, I have a preference for metal reels and the fact that the Saltist has more bearings and is aluminum made it an easy choice for me.
The bearing count is something that I really paid attention to when making my choice. The Saltist has 9 bearings, while the Ballistic and Stratic have 7.
At the time of my purchase, the Saltist was more affordable than the Ballistic, which made my decision even easier. The construction of this reel is superb.
Even though it is slightly heavier than the Ballistic, it is definitely built to last and can withstand the elements. The reel is also very stylish and looks great on my rod.
Fishing with this reel has been a dream and I am really happy with my purchase.
