Two nurses smeared red paint and glued themselves to a Monet painting at the National Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, on Wednesday, June 14, to demand climate action. The artwork was covered by protective glass, the activists said, and was not permanently damaged. The nurses belonged to Aterstall Vatmarkers, a Swedish organization that’s demanding the government restore the nation’s wetlands as a way to reduce carbon emissions, according to their website. This footage by the organization shows a Claude Monet painting of the artist’s garden at Giverny with red paint smears and the two women with their hands up to the artwork.
