1. As a first-time Vortex user, I was a bit hesitant but ultimately decided to purchase this scope for my Savage B.Mag. 2. One downside I noticed is that the power selector isnt marked for each setting - only 4X, 5.3X, 8X, and 16X.
3. Additionally, the Parallax settings on the scope werent as accurate as I would like. 4. The manual recommends torque rings to 18 in.lbs., which is a bit lower than what my Leupold PRW rings specify.
5. Despite these initial concerns, the scope performed flawlessly on my first outing. 6. Even with a strong breeze cutting my session short, my first three shots had only a 1/2" spread at 50 yards.
7. After sighting in, my shots improved to a 3/8" spread at 50 yards. 8. Ive now been using this scope for 5 months and have shot 500-600 rounds with it.
9. Unfortunately, I have noticed some movement in the scope even with following the 18 in.lb. torque recommendation. 10. My point of impact has shifted 1 1/2" higher than my point of aim at 75 yards, which is quite a lot.
11. Despite these concerns, I still think this is a great quality scope and have no issues with it mounted on my Springfield M1A Loaded. 12.
Overall, I would say that the Vortex Optics Viper HS-T Second Focal Plane Riflescope is a great option for those looking for a high-quality scope at an economical price point.
13. However, its important to keep an eye on torque and to ensure that the scope remains accurate over time.
