Attorney General Garland speaks on Trump case, defends special counsel

Following the historic indictment of former President Donald Trump on federal criminal charges, Attorney General Merrick Garland addressed the public for the first time.

Speaking at an event focused on combating violent crime, Garland responded to questions regarding the case but refrained from discussing specific details, ABC News has reported.

Nevertheless, he expressed admiration for special counsel Jack Smith and his team, countering accusations made by Trump and other Republicans about the alleged politicization of the Justice Department.
