Exodus 7:17-21
Thus says the Lord, “By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, I will strike the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and it will be turned to blood. The fish that are in the Nile will die, and the Nile will become foul, and the Egyptians will find difficulty in drinking water from the Nile.”’

The Nile, a powerful source of irrigation and clean water for millions, is disappearing! Climate change is the culprit behind the river's decline but something else is also at play. Global warming cannot be stopped by Egypt, Ethiopia, or Sudan alone, and each nation anxiously awaits its impact on the Nile. The 6,500-km river is losing water. The Nile's flow has fallen from 3,000 cubic metres per second to 2,830 cubic metres per second in the 50 years since the 1970s. Egypt has a long-standing rule that prohibits any outside force from interfering with its access to Nile water. Egypt is thus concerned about Ethiopia's massive dam's capacity to do that.
