J.R.R. Tolkien was a professor of Philology at The University of Oxford for most of his life. He had a great love for languages, nature, literature, culture, History, & God. He spent most of his life creating a World he called 'Middle Earth' populating it in his stories with:

Wizards like Gandalf the Grey and Saruman the White,
Hobbits like Bilbo Baggins, Frodo, Samwise Gamgee, Merry Brandybuck & Pippin Took,
Elves like Legolas, Galadriel, & Elrond,
Dwarves like Gimli, Gloin, Bombur, & Thorin,
Brave & Honorable Men & Women like Aragorn, Boromir, Éomer, Éowyn, & King Théodon,
Walking, Talking tree-like beings known as Ents (Shepherds of the forest) like Treebeard,
Terrible Monsters like the Balrog, Shelob the Giant Spider, the Nazgûl (Ring Wraiths), & the Fire-Breathing Dragon Smaug,
Corrupted beings who serve the Dark Lord Sauron like the Orcs, Urak-hai, & bands of treacherous men.
Demigods like Tom Bombadil & Goldberry,
& Many, many more.

Today we will go over the life of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, his literary work, and its influence on my life, and our culture as a whole.
