Life in the Amazon Ep. 29: The MONSTROUS Arapamia

The Amazon River and the freshwaters of South America are home to a GIANT BEAST!! It is one of the largest freshwater fish in the whole world! The arapaima can get up to 10 feet in length! That's the height of 2 average adults put together! The arapaima can also weight very close to 500 lbs!!! Arapamia are also very powerful fish and can leap out of the water and can cause broken bones with their size!
The Arapaima is an apex predatory fish in the Amazon as it eats many fish, and animals such as small mammals. It's also a food fish and it's numbers are declining due to habitat loss and more!
