I am thoroughly impressed with the Suunto 9 smartwatch, it has exceeded my expectations in many ways. The high-resolution screen is absolutely beautiful, with vivid colors that make the display easy to read in any lighting.
The UI is very intuitive and easy to navigate, which is a major plus for me. During activities, data is displayed in a way that is easy to understand and interpret, which makes tracking progress a breeze.
The wristband is incredibly comfortable and I can wear it all day long without experiencing any discomfort or irritation. The buttons are also nice and clicky, which makes using the watch even more enjoyable.
The GPS+GALILEO functionality introduced with the latest firmware update is truly impressive, as it accurately pinpoints my location within 10-20 meters of the actual distance on routes.
One of the best things about this watch is the amazing battery life, which is perfect for activity tracking with different modes. I was also impressed with the route-building tool in the Suunto app, it is truly a great feature.
Another feature I appreciate is its native support of Power Meters like the Stryd footpod. I purchased this watch during a sale, which made the already reasonable price an even better value.
On the downside, its worth noting that the Suunto 9 does not have as many features as its main competitor, the Fenix 5 line. It also takes a bit longer to lock the GPS when skies are not that clear or around tall buildings.
Customization of the data screen is not as flexible as Garmin, and it doesnt provide quite as much data as Garmin on the watch or on the Suunto app. While the wrist heart rate measurements are decent, theyre not as accurate as Polar.
The sleep tracking feature is just okay, and the 24-hour heart rate measurement could use a bit of improvement. Additionally, it doesnt have sensors like a Barometer, so youll need to opt for the Suunto 9 Baro to get that feature.
Overall, the Suunto 9 is an exceptional smartwatch that offers a lot of value for its price point. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of other competitors, it still delivers an amazing experience that I highly recommend.
