Jim Nabors birthday is this week so I thought this would be a good time time to talk about the show that made him famous. Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. originally aired on the CBS television network from September 25, 1964, until May 2, 1969. The series was a spin-off of The Andy Griffith Show with the pilot episode airing as the fourth season finale on May 18, 1964.

Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was also a major ratings hit, just as was it's parent from Mayberry, never placing lower than tenth in the Nielsen ratings and ending its run as the second-highest-rated series in the United States.
