On Tuesday, a federal judge allowed advice columnist E. Jean Carroll to amend her original 2019 defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump to include comments the former president made during last month’s CNN town hall. A New York jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages in May for her 2022 defamation and battery lawsuit against Trump. The newly amended lawsuit will seek at least $10 million in additional punitive damages.
