Agustin Carstens on the Control They Will Have With CBDCs

The banks are pushing Central Bank Digital Currency, presented as a slick and efficient way of making transactions, but it is again a global, top down, fully surveilled, monitored system run by technocrats. Here Agustin Carstens, Manager of the Bank for International Settlements, says that now they don't know who is using money for what (which seems to be problematic for him) and explains the control that digital currency offers them:
"The central bank will have absolute control on the rules and regulations that will determine the use of that expression of central bank liability and also we will have the technology to enforce that."
