Derrick Lewis is the perfect case study of why some fighters can never become champions. He is an exciting fighter with impressive knockout power. He holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC history and yet, his defeat against Sergey Spivak may have cemented the fact that Lewis may never be a title contender. To dismiss a fighter in this manner may seem cruel but that is MMA. A fighter cannot have just one quiver in his arrow and hope to become the champion. Lewis is synonymous with knockouts but that is all he has. His defense is laughable and despite his vast experience, it is quite easy for his opponents to exhaust him by making him go for a knockout with every single punch.
