A 37-count indictment of Donald Trump was ginned up to look very impressive but is legally virtually worthless, as Tom Fitton (among others) has explained. The Presidential Records Act, legal precedents, the Constitution and (even) prior Archives' rulings are all in his favor. Plus a Florida jury will not be eager to convict the former president and the judge was appointed by Trump himself--and could toss the whole proceeding, which would not be the worst outcome4. He must surrender in Miami tomorrow at 3 PM/ET. Even under indictment or (more surprisingly) conviction, Trump could serve as President of the United States, as remarkable as that sounds. There might be practicality issues, but they could be circumvented. In any case, such an outcome is most unlikely, since the case has no legal merit (but functions as propaganda to demonize the guy Democrats most fear). CBS reports the outcome of a poll showing that Trump's approval HAS GONE UP since the indictment and now stands at 61%, 38% over DeSantis and 57% over his next closest competition for the GOP nomination. WHOWHATWHY trots out its list of the 5 "craziest" responses, but none of them is as insane as the ongoing attacks on Trump, which are (at least, in part) dedicated to distracting attention from the damning document the FBI has provided to the House Oversight Committee of Biden bribery, which is among the bases cited for impeachment in the Constitution itself.
