Why do I teach permutations?

Permutations are the rudiments of rhythm. They are the building blocks of every rhythmic pattern you hear.

With my students, I run through all of these patterns to make sure that they can play each one in a smooth fashion.

There are hundreds of applications for these patterns and once you master them you’ll have zero issues with creativity ever again.
