June 11, 2023 Sunday Message: UNCOVERING THE TRUTH: HOW TO FIND FREEDOM IN A WORLD FULL OF LIES - Pastor Chuck Kennedy
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The difference in being “set free” and “made free”
Set is a period of time, an act
Whereas made is over time no limit, a process
The truth makes us free as we continue in it
There are many forces trying to get us off the truth into deception
Pilate asked, What is truth?
John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
1Pet 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Unfeigned in BLB means “undisguised, or sincere”
We are not “set” free
We are made free as we follow truth
Truth is eternal, not just for a moment in time as in the definition of set
Ps 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Times change but truth is eternal, the same
Prov 12:19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
