Cash for Clunkers - The raw data on cars scrapped in the USA scheme 2009

Pull on your wranglers and your blue suede shoes, crank up the Springsteen and raise the flag... we're going to 'MERICA...! I've crunched the numbers from the Cash for Clunkers scheme and dived deep into the data for diamonds amongst the coal. Boy, there is a lot of coal here, but there be treasure in them there hills (or spreadsheets).

Following on from my original vide of the UK Scrappage Scheme, I decided to process the data for the USA equivalent, known as 'cash for clunkers'.

The scheme saw almost 700,000 cars, trucks and vans scrapped in 2009. I dug deep into the data to find the winners and losers... There are some cars we are glad to be rid of, and some we can't believe they scrapped.

You might think it's all 1970s muscle cars and desirable iconic station wagons, but I found that it's actually... not. Yes, there are a LOT of really desirable cars in the mix, but take a look at the video and see if you agree with my conclusion. It's undoubtedly a shocking waste of resources but the USA scheme seems to say more about where the American car industry went wrong than anything else. Anyway, enjoy the video.

Is it better or worse than the European scourge...? You decide! #GeoffBuysCars #BuyingCars #SellingCars #CarReview
