Rita of Cascia (1381 to 1457) was an Augustinian nun, who was beatified in the year 1900. Her body is still on display where it can be seen in the Basilica of Saint Rita in Cascia. Though she wanted to join a convent at a young age, she was put into an arranged marriage by her father. The marriage turned out to be a difficult one, as her husband was a career criminal and violent. After the death of her husband she joined the Augustinian order.
