50 million tires burn in Kuwait
About 50 million tires burn in Kuwait.
Apocalyptic fire already visible from space
A landfill containing around 50 million car tires is on fire in Kuwait. The embankment fire has been burning for almost a week, the fire covered more than 25,000 square meters. Apparently tons of toxic carcinogenic chemicals benzene, xylene, ethylene and acetone were released into the atmosphere.
The tire warehouse in Kuwait is about 30 years old and tires are flown in from all over the world. Incidentally, fires break out there with enviable regularity – the last major fire was recorded in 2012. So the fire could not be extinguished for more than a month.
Demands from environmental activists in Europe to kill cows in order to achieve zero emissions are even more absurd. Is it really easier to kill animals than to recycle car trash?
