The majority of people live entire lifetimes without ever really seeing a flying squirrel. They are nocturnal creatures that hardly ever venture outside during the day. Instead, they take a leap and spread their limbs wide. They possess a patagium, a membrane that stretches and functions like a wing, enabling them to glide and even generate some lift.
