10th In our series the Epistle of 2nd Peter

The Original 9/11 - Genesis 9:11
* The great flood was God’s judgment upon the wicked world
* The rainbow reminds of that judgment and points toward the next judgment which will not be by water, but by fire  

The Loving Duty to Warn the Lost - 2 Peter 1:12
* The Pastor’s work is to warn of coming judgment - 1 Peter 5:1-4
* The Pastor watches over the souls of the congregation - Hebrews 13:17
* If no warning is given to the lost then the Pastor will answer for that failure
* The things Peter reminded them of - 2 Peter 1:5-11
* There are key indicators that someone has come to true faith in Jesus Christ and entered His Kingdom
* The seven virtues of verses 5-7
* The progressive transformation from sinner to saint
* Peter is Confident they are established in the truth
* Peter’s awareness of the brevity of life - 2 Peter 1:13-15
* Tent is a temporary dwelling place
* No foundation, with flimsy walls
* Not great protection from the elements 
* Wears out quickly
* Peter is aware of Jesus’ prophecy about his death - John 21:18-19
* Peter is writing this epistle to assure the disciples they have a perpetual reminder 
* Diligently ascertain if you are in the Kingdom
* The tent replaced with a permanent house made by God - 2 Corinthians 5:1-11
