KMPO June: Surveillance State

Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization board meeting received a large turnout of concerned citizens all sharing a similar message to oppose surveillance of citizens using traffic cameras as the board is preparing to vote for an advanced Traffic Management Center, capable of facial recognition and enforcement.

0:00:00 to 0:47:34 is public comment (including Idaho state legislators)
0:47:35 to 0:52:27 is KMPO's Executive Director Glenn Miles' response.
0:52:28 to 1:15:51 is the KMPO board's response

Board members approached the TMC and its report from different perspectives. Jeff Tyler was concerned about privacy and overreaching government. Bruce Mattare wanted to hear from all sides before weighing in with a decision, and Dan Gookin opposed the 2-part process procedure and financial issues.
